African indigenous vegetables (AIVs) have been part of the food systems in sub-Saharan Africa for generations. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, some protein, act as antioxidants and serve as a source of roughage, which helps in the process of digestion. Black nightshade (Solanum nigrum) was subjected to eight levels of organic and inorganic fertilizer applications in a field experiment. The experimental was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with 8 treatments and replicated four times. The collected data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) using Turkey multiple range test. Dry matter and average edible yield were significantly (p ≤ 0.05) affected by poultry manure application. Plant height, internode length and the stem thickness increased with number of days after planting. Longer internodes, thicker stems and higher number of branches as exhibited are good characteristic as these parameters improve on the amount of harvestable biomass that often include tender stems. The result showed that fresh weight and dry weight per plant increased with increase in poultry manure rate applied while excessive amounts of DAP tended to depress the variables
